Roofers in Cramlington

Willow Roofing started out in Cramlington, and seven five-star reviews from the town say we have never taken it for granted.

Cramlington is where Willow Roofing comes from. Before the yard moved to Killingworth, this was home ground, and it still feels that way: seven MyBuilder reviews from the town, all positive, covering everything from urgent leak repairs to a complete conservatory roof replacement. One customer, badly let down by a previous roofing firm, wrote that Davey and the lads are top draw and that we restored her faith in tradesmen. We would settle for that as a company motto.

Our owner has spent more than twenty years on the tools and still surveys every Cramlington job himself. The town is ten minutes from our Killingworth base, quotes are written and itemised, and the team that prices the work is the team that carries it out. There is no subcontracting and there are no salesmen — just the same straightforward approach that earned those seven reviews in the first place, applied to every job since.

Roofs in Cramlington

Cramlington's story is written in its rooftops. Designated a new town in the early 1960s, most of its housing went up in a few decades — the estates at Beaconhill, Eastfield, Collingwood and Northburn among them — almost all under concrete interlocking tiles. Those tiles were rated for around fifty years, and much of the town is now at or past that mark: surfaces turning porous, moss taking hold, and the bituminous felt beneath gone brittle and cracked.

The pattern we see again and again here is a roof that looks passable from the street while the underlay underneath has failed, letting wind-blown rain through at the laps. Add original timber fascias and forty-year-old gutters and you have a generation of Cramlington roofs all reaching decision time together. The older village core around the church is the exception — a small pocket of traditional stock amid the estates.

Our work in Cramlington

Our Cramlington reviews cover the full spread of what the town's houses need. The conservatory roof rescue is the one people remember — a very large roof replaced in short order for a customer another firm had failed, with a handful of their other botched jobs put right while we were there. Alongside it: a garage roof replacement described as top class, tile repairs with gully pointing the owner called lovely and neat, an urgent storm repair seen through months of insurance delays, new gutters and fascias, and a loose exterior wall tile secured before it could fall on the flat below.

What Cramlington homes ask us for

In Cramlington the conversation is usually about age rather than exposure. We give straight answers on whether a 1960s–80s concrete-tiled roof needs re-roofing or just honest repair — and when it is a re-roof, we strip to the timbers, renew the felt with a modern breathable membrane and re-tile properly. Fascia, soffit and gutter replacement finishes the job the estates' original timber never could. Conservatory roof replacement is a Cramlington speciality of ours, and gutter and pointing repairs keep roofs going that are not ready for the full works yet.

Well what can I say. Absolutely amazing jobs. Davey and the lads are top draw. Her early real workers and replaced my very large roof on my conservatory in no time at all. After being done from another roofing company I had lost faith in tradesmen. If only all were as good as these guys the world would be a better place. Can't thanks them enough and Davey fixed a few other issues from other tradesmen with no problem at all. Great work guys and can't recommend these enough. Honest price, if you get these guys in you'll be at ease and super happy with the work they do.

I really appreciated the prompt response from David in response to my posted job as an exterior wall tile was about to fall off causing potential damage to the flat below. Communication was great and the price was reasonable. I would definitely use this company again and am happy to recommend them.

Really pleased with Willow Roofing. The lads were hardworking and did the job as expected. The pointing on the gullys was lovely and neat. We are always anxious when getting tradesmen in but this company will be top our list for any other roof work we may need in the future. Thank you David and team.

I would definitely recommend Dave and would use him again in future. Our problems with our roof occurred in December but because of delays with our insurance company we couldn't get on with the job until January. Once we were able to Dave got the job sorted as soon as he could fit it in. His roofer who did the work was very personable and explained what was required. I've passed his number on to other people who are looking for a roofer.

Common questions

Roofing in Cramlington — asked and answered

My Cramlington roof is original from the 1970s. Does it need replacing or repairing?

It depends on the felt more than the tiles. Concrete interlocking tiles often look serviceable while the underlay beneath has gone brittle and split — and once the felt fails, repairs only chase the leaks around. The owner will look in the loft as well as at the roof, and tell you plainly which side of the line yours falls. Plenty here are still worth repairing.

Another company made a mess of my conservatory roof. Can you put it right?

That is precisely how one of our best-known Cramlington reviews came about. The owner of a very large conservatory had been let down badly by another roofing firm; we replaced the whole roof quickly and fixed several of their other errors while we were on site. She wrote that Davey and the lads are top draw, which we did not pay her to say.

Do you do smaller jobs in Cramlington, like gutters and fascias, or only full roofs?

Small jobs are half our history in this town. Our Cramlington reviews include leaking gutter joints, new gutters and fascia boards, gully repointing and a single loose wall tile refixed before it fell. The estates' original timber fascias and gutters are mostly past their best now, and replacing them in uPVC is quick, tidy and permanent.
